March for Quality Health Care Reform

Oct 28-

Join the Central Valley Health Care Reform Coalition

Citizens of the Central Valley are amongst the most uninsured Americans in the entire country. Everyone knows someone without insurance these days, but not everyone knows that our leaders in Congress have a chance to insure 95% of all Americans with a vote this year. We the people must convince the naysayers that Congress works for us, not the insurance CEOs.  March with us to urge our local Representatives and Senators to vote for honest insurance reform this winter!!!

WHAT:    Downtown rally & march to support health care reform

WHEN:    Wednesday Nov. 4, 11am-1:30pm (LUNCH PROVIDED)

WHERE:    Meet at Sen. Diane Feinstein’s office (2500 Tulare  St.)
March to Rep. Jim Costa’s office (855 M Street) for rally

Phone bank for health care reform

Oct 14-
As you may know, there are now three bills out of Committee in the House; two bills out of Committees in the Senate.

These must be melded and dealt with by the respective bodies and then a "Conference Committee" before legislation is finalized. We still have a short window of opportunity to encourage inclusion of a strong public option--which is the best defense against the insurance industry (who have conducted themselves despicably for decades) from being the exclusive beneficiaries of subsidies to persons who cannot afford health insurance premiums.

And the Insurance Industry is now threatening to raise premiums even more in response to legislation that will curtail many of their worst abuses.

Will you join me for a phone bank on Wednesday, October 21 from 5-8 PM?
Event will be held at CWA Hall, 4422 E. Ashlan, Fresno--just west of Hwy 168 on the south side of Ashlan.

Costa Protest

Sept 18-

Are you tired of the blue dogs, the Republican wing of the Democratic party?

Do you want those blue dogs in safe Democratic districts to actually

represent the needs and wants of their people?

Are you tired of those blue dogs who vote recklessly for a war, but make

excuses about how fiscal responsibility needs to be part of a health care

plan?  Money for killing, but not for healing!

Well here is your chance to do something about it:

Join the Daily Picket for Health Care At Rep. Costa’s Fresno Office
The Fresno Central Labor Council and coalition partners are launching a daily picket in front of Congressman Jim Costa's office in Fresno for the next two weeks, to put pressure on Costa to support the health care public option and oppose taxing healthcare benefits.
The picket will kick off on Monday, September 21st from 11:30am to 1:30pm, and will continue every weekday at the same time through October 2nd.

OutWest Campaign Boot Camp

Aug 30-

This event is made possible by...

The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center of the University of Southern California (USC) & their generous donation of the event location & on-site resources

You say you want to get involved?

You say you want to create change?

Then on September 12 & 13 join us and learn from the best campaign experts:

The passage of Proposition 8 in California last year ignited a flame in the community of LGBT & Allies across the nation. We went into the streets, we got organized, and we became determined to win back our right to marry the person we love. Countless individuals have proven themselves to be disciplined, organized, and dedicated.

Since many of these people are eager to learn how campaigns operateOUT West, a Los Angeles-based coalition of organizations dedicated to winning back marriage equality, the Courage Campaign, Equality California, Equal Roots Coalition, & Pride at Work, AFL-CIO, have organized a two-day campaign training for people like YOU.

Inspired by Christine Pelosi's Campaign Boot Camp, this intensive training is designed to teach you the principles and skills of ballot initiative campaigns.

Campaign Boot Camp draws on successful techniques which have been honed by political professionals and consultants for decades. You will learn what a successful campaign looks like and how the moving parts of a campaign work together for victory.

Our expert trainers include Christine Pelosi (attorney, author, activist) as our key note speaker. Sarah Callahan (C.O.O. Courage Campaign), Amy Simon (Pollster), Ana Grande
(Power PAC), David Fleischer (Political Consultant) and more.

ABOUT THE TRAINING:

DAY 1:
During the first day, participants will be given a hands-on overview of how a campaign operates including effective use of media strategies, polling, new media and a variety of other critical topics.

DAY 2:
Participants will break into two of four tracks where they will focus in-depth on four critical areas of a campaign: Field, Political/New Media Organizing, Finance, and Communications.

This is a fun, interactive training - not a lecture. Prepare to be part of the action!

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS:

PoliPointPress has donated copies of Christine Pelosi's book "Campaign Boot Camp: Basic Training for Future Leaders" for each participant.

Arianna Huffington dubbed her book a "passionate call to public service" by "a sharp and knowledgeable drill sergeant."
