| Asian American Political Engagement March 6- AFSA presents Jane Junn, Ph.D. Professor of Political Science at the University of Southern California on “Yellow Tide Rising?”: Asian American Political Engagement date: March 15, 2010 time: Noon–2 p.m. location: 2nd Floor of the Henry Madden Library Auditorium 2206, South Wing Nearly 15 million people across the nation are now classified as Asian Americans. Asian Americans will likely double their share of the U.S. population by mid-century. In delegate-rich states such as California, New York, New Jersey and Illinois, Asian Americans voters are poised to become the new group of “swing” voters. · To what extent do these demographic trends portend a “yellow tide rising” of Asian American power in American politics? · Are Asian Americans a coherent and cohesive political group? · Are Asian Americans Democrats or Republicans or something else? their political engagement? | ||
